These
are Ansley's super secret bridal shots, didn't they come out gorgeous?
We had to hold off on showing them until after the wedding, so if you
are reading this, Ansley and Scott are already married!
We photographed her bridal at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church near
the Medical Center. Palmer was going through some renovations while we
were shooting, so we used an old chapel that was a little quieter and
more understated. The brides father came along to the session and we
were able to capture a first look he had at his stunning daughter in
all of her wedding finery. It was a very touching moment that we are
not usually able to capture. Laura also brought along her home made
lens to compliment David's other images just to mix it up a bit.
David recently photographed Anna's bridal portrait at Second Baptist Church. She grew up attending Second not only for services but school as well. In fact her mother Beverly teaches there. Naturally this was the ideal location for her session in addition to the fact that she is getting married here as well. We had a very brief window to work with Anna as she lives in Memphis. Keep an eye out for her wedding entry later this week.
We photographed Eliza's session back in February and have waited patiently to share these with you. We set up at her grandmother's home in River Oaks which had amazing light. She was such a charm to work with and I think it shows with the images we were able to capture. After working at the home we had previously arranged with the client to create a few on South Boulevard. We worked quickly to honor this request as the wind was gusty and the temperature was only in the upper 40's.
This past Thursday Laura was asked to document the Houston Center for Photography fine print auction. Over 80 pieces of fine art photography were donated to the center and auctioned off by the very entertaining Rick Wester of Rick Wester Fine Art in New York. The auction is HCP's biggest fund raiser of the year and 100% of the proceeds go to support exhibitions, outreach programs, educational initiatives and the publication of their award-winning SPOT magazine. I am pleased to say this year they met their goal and raised over $80,000!
Lauren and Tim were married this past Saturday at the Grace Presbyterian Church Founders Chapel which was co-officiated by the groom's father. The reception followed at The Junior League of Houston. This was such a fun wedding to be a part of. Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters provided the entertainment, and there was plenty of dancing and celebrating going on. The bouquets and floral arrangements provided by Plants N Petals while the yummy cakes were from Who Made the Cake! Be sure to ask David how to get wax out of a suit.
The couple will reside in Pennsylvania after they return from their St. Lucia honeymoon!
Last week David had the pleasure of covering Neighborhood Centers Heart of Gold Celebration. at the Hilton Americas Houston. Though juggling several events that day, one being in the very next ballroom, Mayor Annise Parker had just enough time to honor the award recipient with a city proclamation for Trini Mendnehall Sosa Day.
The event was emceed by KPRC's Kim Davis with additional presentations by John Hernandez with Amegy Bank as well as Joni Baird with Chevron's Public Affairs. This year the Alice Graham Baker Crusader Award was presented to Trini Mendenhall Sosa. This event's attendees always include a great collection of local and state politicians as well as several individuals and corporations that assist NCI in continuing as Houston's largest human resources services organization. The award was presented by George DeMontrond, III and was followed by a closing by President and CEO of NCI, Angela Blanchard.
In January we had the opportunity to photograph Lauren's bridal portrait at her reception location, The Junior League of Houston. She was in town briefly to wrap up wedding plans as she lives out of state. David had a great time working with her and her entourage.
Once again Nadine with Who Made the Cake! delivered her latest creations to us to document for her advertising purposes. She never ceases to amaze us with her creativity and cake construction. And if you are one of the fortunate one's to visit our studio while they are here you cannot miss the intoxicating aroma of wedding cake! It certainly helps keep us motivated.
We finally were able to coordinate with Bryan and Justyna to capture their recent addition to the family, Jacob Ferraro. He was such a great subject and was a breeze to work with, even being a drool monster. We captured a few with mom and dad as well as the complete family.
We are proud to announce that D. Jones Photography has been rated by local brides and votedThe Knot Best of Weddings 2010 Pick.
