Many of our clients are updating their professional portraits and personal images lately. So many of the business, social networking and dating sites have terrible images. It is as if some people think a poorly lit and grainy webcam shot is going to advance your career. I think not. If you want to be respected as a professional your images should reflect that.
That being said we were pleased that Sherry needed to do just this. She was referred to us by a past client and friend of ours and is indeed updating her business resume as well as social networking sites (ie. LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.).
Feel free to contact the studio to update your portrait, whether for business or just personal use.

Vandi is a jewelry designer Laura met because their daughters are in the same kindergarden class. She is currently putting together a website of her designs and wanted a more editorial type of portrait to use on the website, something fun and a little different than your standard headshot.
She and Laura decided to use this gorgeous chair Vandi had as a prop for the shoot so they loaded into her suburban and took it around town. First stop was Mandell Park. There are these lovely community gardens at the park and they thought it would be an excellent setting. Next they headed over to the sculpture garden at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston because the backdrop looks so industrial. They wanted a few contrasting looks. I think the result came out pretty wonderful!

Rebecca and Scott were married this past Saturday at the new Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral downtown. This was our first time working at the new church and I can honestly say that I cannot think of a more beautiful venue to tie the knot in! It had so many great details and this amazing, glowing natural light. After they said their vows we headed over to another cool venue, the Historic Heights Fire Station, for the reception party with their family and friends who came for the wedding from all over the country. Rebecca and Scott met while at OU law school and she actually just graduated and moved to Texas to be with Scott last week. You can really tell they get each other. Thanks you guys for letting us document your day, we had an awesome time!

This past weekend Laura and her family went up to Krause Springs, outside of Austin to camp, meet up with some old and new friends and take a bunch of cool photos. Laura had been swimming at Krause Springs a few years back and had always wanted to do a more formal portrait session here because it is just full of natural beauty. She also had a crazy idea that she wanted a bride swinging on a rope swing there. So she called up her old room mate, Seasha McKay, and they agreed on a time and Seasha pulled out a dress or two from her arsenal. Seasha is also a part time wedding planner in Austin. She also does triathlons and is pretty darn fit (something needed for hanging out on a rope swing in a wet wedding dress that probably added an extra 30 or so pounds of weight!) So these are some of the photos they got through rain and water and lots of fun. Will have to post some more informal photos from the trip later as there are some really great ones of the kiddos too.
On another note, at this same location and on the very same rope swing David's brother broke his finger last year. Ouch!

Last week David covered the Houston Chapter of Executive Women International's annual scholarship awards dinner which was held at The Corinthian. Jackson Hicks, owner of Jackson and Company, recently established the Anne Sharpe Memorial Scholarship through the local chapter in memory of her dedication and support. This award was presented along with the Cherry York EWI Scholarship Program. A total of three different scholarships were awarded that evening as part of EWI Houston Chapter's continuing support of helping high school juniors achieve their academic goals. Florals arrangements provided by Bergner & Johnson.

Lauren and Brad celebrated their wedding this last weekend. The ceremony was held at St. Paul's UMC with a reception at Hotel ZaZa. The events were expertly coordinated by Master Bridal Consultant, Bobbi Asarch. Florals and ballroom decorations were provided by Plants N Petals. There were so many wonderful details that made it that much more fun to cover.

Once again the weather held out for our engagement session with Michelle and Chad. The two are so much fun to work with. We met at the Wortham Promenade which is a staple for us. Unfortunately due to the massive flooding we had early in the week half of the spots we generally work in were covered in mud. In fact even the fountain had been drained for maintenance as a result of the flooding. So we worked where we could then finished up over at the Jones Plaza.
