Susan + Eric wedding

This past Saturday we got to play with Susan and Eric. We started off at St. Pauls United Methodist Church for the ceremony where everyone was getting ready. I knew it was going to be a good day when I saw Susan's sparkly, dark red Christian Louboutin shoes (Laura loves some shoes!) and her beautiful blush colored dress (it had pockets! How neat is that?) She also had lots of little details that we love to document. She customized her bridal party's flowers with items that meant something to them (A golden peanut on the boutonniere for her man of honor and a dragonfly for her bridesmaid). Eric also had a frog broach on his boutonniere which I think is a really neat idea and personalized the wedding just that much more. After the ceremony we had a little time to kill, so we walked around downtown and were able to get capture some artistic shots of the couple together. At six it was time for the reception to start so the couple was welcomed into the ballroom at The Hotel Icon and the party started from there. Susan and Eric opted to have a really nice dinner party for their guests so that they could socialize in a more intimate environment. Soon after dinner the couple cut the cake to the sounds of a large mariachi band and soon after they took off in their getaway car, a 1932 Pierce Arrow.

It really was a beautiful wedding. The whole thing was orchestrated by Alia Rdissi of Belle of the Ball, who always does such a wonderful job!

The couple will be honeymooning in Spain and will reside in Houston after their return.

Bevin + Dan wedding

Oh, what can we say about Bevin and Dan's wedding that would truly describe it? This was really a completely fabulous celebration of love between one of the neatest couples we have had the pleasure to work with. We were approached by Bevin about a year ago about her wedding, and I was so happy she ended up choosing us!

So about this wedding!

We started our day of at the Hotel ZaZa in the museum district. Bevin was getting ready with her girls in one of the suites while Dan was upstairs in the Black Label suite (which was going to be their suite later that night). This is one of the "Magnificent Seven" Suites on the 12th floor and one of the ones that has an out door tub! We took lots of photos at ZaZa before heading over to the Chapel of St. Basil for the ceremony.

The ceremony itself was a very touching Catholic ceremony. The personalized service was enhanced by Dan's sister in law playing guitar while his niece sang a song for them.

After the ceremony was over, Bevin and Dan exited the church where we got lots of photos on the lawn in front of the church while the guests had cocktails in the labyrinth to the sounds of a full mariachi band. The couple were soon introduced as husband and wife and then guests walked to the Menil Collection by lantern light where they were served cocktails and h'or dourves. 

After about an hour we all headed over to the Richmond Hall where the Dan Flavin exhibit is housed for the main reception. Music was provided by the Richard Brown Orchestra, which is something like a 15-20 piece band in the big band tradition. The couple went into their first dance and I have to say they really were amazing dancers! After toasts everyone tucked into the food which was prepared by A Fare Extraordinaire. They had Churrasco steaks with chimichurri sauce, pecan fried chicken, avocados stuff with lump crab meat or edamame, macaroni and cheese with truffles, ceviche with fried plantains and jalapeno cheese grits. Very yummy! 

After more dancing we went into the white room for the cake cutting. The cake itself was made by Susie's Cakes and was also all white and shaped to mimic the Dan Flavin light pieces on the walls.

After the reception the couple left to party the night away at the ZaZa with their friends and family and then they went on to a two week road trip through the Florida Keys. Where this will lead them, who knows, but i am sure they will have a blast together!

Bevin's bridal session

We were sworn to secrecy and could not share these till after her big day. Her gorgeous Monique Lhuillier dress is a secret for Dan.  Laura did an amazing job with Bevin for her bridal session at River Oaks Country Club. She wanted to really capture Bevin's playful and artistic spirit and used a combination of lenses, some home made and she also brought along her big old Crown graphic 4 x 5 camera for Bevin to play with since she is also a photographer. We had a lot of fun with these and cannot wait until the wedding!

Meghan + Matt engagement

David got to work with Meghan and Matt this week for their engagement session on the campus of Rice University. They met while attending Episcopal High School (also where Meghan now teaches)  and both received one of their degrees from Rice. Matt attended Rice for his undergrad, Meghan received her graduate degree here. We are covering their wedding this coming January at St Anne's and River Oaks Country Club.

Erin + Hans wedding

Erin and Hans were married this past weekend at the Rice Memorial Chapel with a reception following at La Colombe D'Or. The couple first met while both were students at Trinity University. 

The ceremony was very warm and touching and the gold alter at the Rice Chapel just added to the glow on the brides face as she married her beau. After the ceremony the reception was in La Grande Salon de La Comtesse and if you have never been there it is surely something to behold. A few years back the folks at La Colombe D'Or restored a full French ballroom and installed it here. The carving are immaculate. You can read more about it here.

The couple will continue to reside in Houston after a honeymoon in Maui!

Erin + Hans engagement

Suzie + Brent wedding

Suzie and Brent were married this past weekend at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with a traditional Catholic ceremony. They flew the family priest in from the UK to officiate. After the ceremony they had an elegant reception at the St. Regis Hotel. The reception featured a multi course seated dinner with entertainment provided by Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes of Austin. This band is always such a delight to work with as they really get the crowd up and moving. As a testament to what kind of wonderful people Suzie and Brent are, they had family and friends come from Kansas, England and even Australia to celebrate their wedding day with them. Cake provided by Who Made the Cake! whiles floral arrangements were created by LIsa Tran of Wedding Flowers by LIsa. Event coordination by DGLS Events... at your service!. The couple will reside in Houston when they return from their honeymoon.

Kristy + Chandler engagement

David worked with Kristy and Chandler this week on their engagement session at the Wortham Promenade. You would think that we might be getting nicer weather as it is now October, but they braved a heat index of 100 degrees quite well. We look forward to covering their wedding this Spring.  

Baby August session

Laura and I recently had the pleasure of working with baby August for his first portrait session. He is the first born to Krystal and Ryan whose wedding we photographed back in 2004. August was nearly 3 weeks old and his parents brought in various props to personalize his session.
