Once again we had the pleasure of working with the Erica and Jermaine's family for their annual portrait session at Hermann Park.

Laura has known Allison for a quite a long while, since they were in high school. They got reacquainted through Facebook, which is an awesome time-sucker/resource :)
Since Allison and her family now live in Dallas they had been planning and corresponding about when and where to do a family portrait. We decided to go to Hermann Park as our location because there is just so much there to see and do (and photograph).
Allison did a great job getting every ones outfits together and coordinated, which I think can really add to a session. Not to put too much into it, but when planning a family portrait, it is sometimes a good idea to also keep in mind where it is going to hang and how this should effect clothing choices. For example, if your house has a lot of dramatic, deep colors maybe pastels should not be the choice :)

Laura and I recently had the pleasure of working with baby August for his first portrait session. He is the first born to Krystal and Ryan whose wedding we photographed back in 2004. August was nearly 3 weeks old and his parents brought in various props to personalize his session.

We covered Natasha and Drew's wedding in November of 2008 and they have just added to their family! Anne Marie Parma was born in June at 37 weeks and she weighed 6lbs 10oz and was a whopping 20 inches long. They call her "Annie" and she is such a sweetie. Laura got to hang out with Natasha, Drew and Annie while she was taking some senior photos for Natasha's sister Clara who was visiting in from Montana. She could not help but snap a few photos of this beautiful baby too!

A few weeks ago Laura went down to Galveston to take some senior portrait of miss Clara, who is the younger sister of one of our former brides, Natasha. Clara moved to Montana with her mom quite a few years back and figured that she would like some photos in some of her favorite childhood haunts rather than pose for the typical "girl with moose" shot her friends in Montana would be getting. We started out on the tall ship Elissa, where Natasha's husband Drew is now sail captain and then we headed over to the beach and took some photos on the sand and underneath what's left of the Flagship Hotel. We had a really good time and I think we got some pretty cool photos too!

Laura was invited back to take more band photos at Day Jams, a rock n roll day camp for kids which was put on at Grace Presbyterian Church. Really this is a fun and talented bunch of kids! Each child signs up for a certain instrument, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards or voice and then is assigned to a band which has anywhere from 5-10 members. Some bands have several drummers or guitarists. The bands then write their own songs, practice and work on mastering their instruments and then do some art and logos to promote their band. It was great working with them and using their ideas to get image concepts for their posters and CD art. The kids really do seem to be having a great time and we can't wait until Friday night to see the final performance!

Yesterday Laura got to have a pretty awesome day :) Her daughter is attending a School of Rock type of camp, called DayJams, this week and got to take photos of the kids and their bands. Each kid is assigned to a band according to age group and music interest and from there they rehearse and practice with their band. They also have to write their own songs and make T-shirts and their own logos and CD art. It is pretty cool and her daughter told her it is the "funnest camp EVAR!"
She first heard about DayJams from one of our awesome brides to be, Melissa, who is an art teacher there and who Laura had first met at the
Glassell School of Art in an advanced darkroom class.
It really was a blast and she tried to let the kids show as much personality as possible which made for a lot of great photos. The camp takes place at
Grace Presbyterian Church on the west side of town and the concert is tomorrow night. If you are free, you should check it out. Some of the bands she heard were really good!

We always love reconnecting with our past clients and especially the little ones. We covered Megan and Wesley's wedding back in 2005. Last week David photographed their 3 year old son, Carter, at Hermann Park and the weather worked out wonderfully for us. Boys will be boys and Carter loved running, jumping over the puddles and throwing rocks.

Baby Cooper was SO adorable to take photos of. We had covered his parent's wedding this past year and were lucky to get the chance to hang out with the bébé this past week. He was just so sweet :) Don't you think he should be up for America's top model baby or something?

If you are a regular blog reader then you might remember we took maternity photos not so long ago of Kelly. Well, the baby has been born and we introduce you to Colin. He is only 4 weeks old but his eyes are so wise.
