Shanda + David engagement

Shanda and David were so much fun to hang out with. We got to knock around South Congress Ave in Austin and take lots of photos. Although it is out of town, this is one of my absolutely favorite places to hang out and I try to go out there as much as possible. I have just seen it grow and change so much since I was in high school in Austin in the 80's. Shanda and David are getting married in Austin in April and I know their wedding is going to rock because Shanda is a creative kind of gal (and an art teacher). I can't wait to take photos!

 

Stacey + James engagement

This was a truly cool enagegement session to photograph and proof of one of the reasons I love my job. I got to go out to James' family ranch in Blanco, Texas sitting on 2500 acres of prime hill country land complete with abandoned German settlements, old barns, not to mention an awesome couple and a cool dog named Paco. Stacy and James are getting married next month in Houston and I can't wait, I know it's going to be a blast.  

Meghan + Matt engagement

David got to work with Meghan and Matt this week for their engagement session on the campus of Rice University. They met while attending Episcopal High School (also where Meghan now teaches)  and both received one of their degrees from Rice. Matt attended Rice for his undergrad, Meghan received her graduate degree here. We are covering their wedding this coming January at St Anne's and River Oaks Country Club.

Kristy + Chandler engagement

David worked with Kristy and Chandler this week on their engagement session at the Wortham Promenade. You would think that we might be getting nicer weather as it is now October, but they braved a heat index of 100 degrees quite well. We look forward to covering their wedding this Spring.  

Erin + Hans engagement

David also got to photograph at Hermann Park this past week for the engagement session for Erin and Hans. We are covering their wedding this October. We were fortunate enough that the heat and humidity had receded a bit so it was a little more mild and pleasant for the outdoor session.

Carrie + Theo engagement

David had a great time working with Carrie and Theo this week for their engagement session at the Wortham Promenade downtown. Their wedding is this November at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Liz & Nathan engagement session

I (Laura here) met Liz & Nathan through their friends Blake & Katie, whose wedding I photographed in April of this year. They wanted to have some engagement photos done in and around the Rice, West University area because that is where Nathan's family home is and it is very scenic.

We started out at about 7am at the park next to the Menil to take advantage of the red swing there. I have taken lots of photos of this swing and it even has "love" painted on it now, which I thought was apropos. We then headed over to the jogging trail by Rice Stadium, but as that was a bit crowded already, we decided to go on over to some oaks by Nathans mother's home. This was just as the sun was really starting to go high in the sky.

After this we headed t the area around T'afia and the Continental Club because it had more color and a sort of urban feel to it. We also got to go to the midtown farmers market after and get some breakfast, which is always yummy!

Liz and Nathan are going to have a destination wedding in Cabo in May.

Meredith + Zach engagement

We are covering Meredith and Zach's wedding next summer and recently photographed their engagement session at the Wortham Promenade. We are so fortunate to work with such amazing couples. They grew up a few streets from each other, went to high schools across the street from each other yet did not meet until attending college in North Carolina a few years ago.

Michelle + Chad engagement

Once again the weather held out for our engagement session with Michelle and Chad. The two are so much fun to work with. We met at the Wortham Promenade which is a staple for us. Unfortunately due to the massive flooding we had early in the week half of the spots we generally work in were covered in mud. In fact even the fountain had been drained for maintenance as a result of the flooding. So we worked where we could then finished up over at the Jones Plaza.

Susan + Eric engagement

As we are covering Susan's wedding in the fall we arranged to have her portraits done before it got too hot outside. Fortunately after all of the rains and floods we were fortunate enough to have the weather hold out for the session at Hermann Park . Susan and Eric are getting married this fall at St Paul's United Methodist Church and Hotel Icon. Both are in the medical field which is also where they met each other.
