Last Friday was Madison's sweet 16 shebang and it was a LOT of fun! Madison is the daughter of Rebekah Graves of Dream Bouquet, so when she asked Laura to cover her daughter's goth themed, Rocky Horror tinged party, well she just could not resist as she knew it was going to certainly be unique. The party did not disappoint :)
Madison had unfortunately broken her ankle a week or so before the party, but no fear, mom had an idea to get the party started. First Maddie was carried into the party by two hunky boys on a palanquin to make her grand entrance. The guests then ate, danced and partied until it was time to cut the cake, provided by Edible Designs by Jessie, which was inspired by her gown and was amazing. Maddie then opened her moms gift, which was beautiful ring packaged in many silver boxes. The dancing was then interrupted by a surprise guest, a Dr. Frank-N-Furter impersonator (from Rocky Horror) in full drag. It really was quite a fun surprise for the kids who then broke into the time warp dance. Maddie was even able to join in on crutches. It really was a good time and Rebekah out did herself on the decorations!

This past Sunday, Laura had the opportunity to photograph Roula Christie's bridal shower/tea party at the Hotel Granduca. For those who live under a rock, Roula is one of the morning DJ's at 104.1 KRBE and is one half of the Roula & Ryan Show. She is seriously one of the funniest and warmest people you will ever meet so it is not a surprise that she comes from a wonderful family and has some of the sweetest friends. Roula, thanks so much for letting us be a part of all of your wedding festivities and congratulations to you and Tasos!

It was all about Harry Reasoner at Vinson & Elkins offices last week, when the man who headed the firm as managing partner from 1992 through 2001 celebrated his 70th birthday and his 45th year with V&E. Nearly 200 well-wishers and family members poured onto the 25th and 26th floors of the swank law offices for food, drink and a strawberry-cream birthday cake, Reasoner’s fave. A string quartet serenaded.

Recently Laura was able to go backstage at the Wortham Theater to take photos of the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company and their spring student recital. Laura's daughter, Sadie, takes tap classes there, so she was able to get access to the backstage area to get some behind the scenes shots. Hopefully she will get to do this agin in the fall because it really was a lot of fun!

David was on hand this past Wednesday to cover the NACE Wedding Trends 2009 Luncheon at the new House of Blues venue downtown. The theme for this year's event was Indian weddings and the vendors involved went all out! As one can expect with an Indian wedding, there were so many rich colors and textures in just about everything. The food and cakes were absolutely amazing as were the flowers, lighting, dancers and musicians involved. Radhika Day from Weddings in Houston was on hand to speak and offer her expertise in this specialized area. The board really pulled out all the stops for this one and the attendance was over 200 people!

Last Friday Jeremie Millwee of the Petroleum Club of Houston asked David to come out and photograph. The club has trusted us in the past for many of their advertising image needs and we are always happy to accommodate them. They truly have one of the best views of the downtown skyline and we love working with Jeremie and her wonderful staff.
First of all they needed to have professional images made for some of their recently updated private function rooms. As they look completely different during the day versus nighttime we decided to capture them both ways. While waiting for night to come we were also presented with some of their chef's creations for samples to show off prospective clients. Man was Dave getting hungry at this point. Also planned in conjunction with our job was a members wine tasting dinner which David captured some candids of. Finally as night fell, David was able to finish up with some of the room shots in all their nighttime splendor. Enjoy!

What can I say about Events in Bloom, other than that they are awesome and so creative. They completely transformed Royal Oaks Country Club into a garden oasis for a private 50th birthday party. And did I mention they were also doing something like 5 other events that night as well? They did them all as perfect as this one. Because thats how they roll. While David was working the Watson wedding at the Hotel ZaZa (flowers and lounge furniture also provided by Events in Bloom), Laura was hired to take set up and detail shots of this amazing shindig at Royal Oaks. They not only provided flowers, lounge furniture and linens, they also custom-made all of these pillows by hand! Can't say enough good things about Rob, Jesus and the crew at EIB. These guys deserve a major vacation!
