A few years back we were covered the holiday festivities of Sr. Chavez's new ranch in Tomball. What a fantastic property this was at that time. Fast forward a few years and the ranch has matured and been further developed. This last Sunday we were hired to cover a charreada, or Mexican Rodeo, in conjunction with the day after celebration for newlyweds Francisco and Evelyn. The host went all out to entertain the two hundred plus guests that had traveled from all over Mexico, the states and even Spain to a Texas-sized, Mexican themed rodeo. Coordinating and on hand for the event was the entire team from Christine Hoffer's Belle of the Ball who did an amazing job. Rob Smith and staff with Events in Bloom handled all of the decorations, florals, signage, furniture and installation which, as you can tell, looked amazing.
The events centered around the horse pavilion on the back part of the property. Guests were greeted by a group of Mexican Folk Dancers, which shared a stage on a rotating schedule. Authentic Mexican food and drinks including many top shelf Tequila's were on hand.
For the kids in attendance there was interactive silkscreen printing, a cotton candy maker and a Mexican Popsicle cart. Also available was a petting zoo complete with goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, deer, cows, a llama and yes even a kangaroo.
Mexico CIty mariachi band, Gama 1000, was flown in and on hand to start off the rodeo and entertain into the evening. Several charros, Mexican cowboys, performed as well. As the day went on the the mariachis led the group out of the pavilion to the corral which was converted into an outdoor lounge. This led to a version of Mexican karaoke where guests could request a favorite traditional Mexican song and be backed up by the entire mariachis. It was amazing how great the guests could sing. It certainly was a fantastic event to cover and we look forward to future events at Rancho Chavez.
