David was on hand this past Wednesday to cover the NACE Wedding Trends 2009 Luncheon at the new House of Blues venue downtown. The theme for this year's event was Indian weddings and the vendors involved went all out! As one can expect with an Indian wedding, there were so many rich colors and textures in just about everything. The food and cakes were absolutely amazing as were the flowers, lighting, dancers and musicians involved. Radhika Day from Weddings in Houston was on hand to speak and offer her expertise in this specialized area. The board really pulled out all the stops for this one and the attendance was over 200 people!

July's NACE meeting was held at the relatively new restaurant, The Grove, at Discovery Green in downtown Houston. What a fantastic opportunity we had to tour the facility and meet the chef. Enjoy!

The Houston Chapter of NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) celebrated the 50th anniversary of the association with an event at the Westin Galleria Hotel. There were vignette stations with food and drinks themed for each decade (I noticed the 80's had Strawberry Hill- and yes, they were serving it, not sure if anyone actually imbibed...). Dance numbers for each decade were choreographed and performed by the talented crew of Dance Force Productions. Their rendition of Thriller was awesome! It was really a great party, but then what else would you expect from the best of the catering industry?

The Houston Chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) held their second annual Wedding Trends Luncheon fundraiser at the Houstonian Hotel this past Wednesday and Laura was there to cover it (lucky David was in Brazil!). The theme of the luncheon program was eco-friendly weddings and the three R's (reduce, reuse and recycle) and how they pertain to out particular industry. It was a really beautiful event and was catered, coordinated and decorated by some of the finest that Houston has to offer.

The National Association of Catering Executives recently held their national conference in Houston and we were the official photographers for the event. Guest speakers included Scott Corridan (who made his entrance on a Harley!), Sylvia Weinstock, Marc Summers and chef Robert Del Grande among many others. The event was a four day crash course in the latest and greatest catering ideas and education, not to mention the parties after! One surreal moment was being served a martini by a half naked man in a bathtub full of green olives at the decadent party hosted by Jackson and Co. at the Corinthian. This event was designed by Darryl Murchison. Another was the beautiful Alice in Wonderland themed closing party at the Houston Marriott Westchase. This event was planned and designed by Events in Bloom. Massive amounts of fun were had by everyone in attendence and hopefully they all learned a thing or two as well! Photos by D. Jones Photography.
