This past weekend Laura and her family went up to Krause Springs, outside of Austin to camp, meet up with some old and new friends and take a bunch of cool photos. Laura had been swimming at Krause Springs a few years back and had always wanted to do a more formal portrait session here because it is just full of natural beauty. She also had a crazy idea that she wanted a bride swinging on a rope swing there. So she called up her old room mate, Seasha McKay, and they agreed on a time and Seasha pulled out a dress or two from her arsenal. Seasha is also a part time wedding planner in Austin. She also does triathlons and is pretty darn fit (something needed for hanging out on a rope swing in a wet wedding dress that probably added an extra 30 or so pounds of weight!) So these are some of the photos they got through rain and water and lots of fun. Will have to post some more informal photos from the trip later as there are some really great ones of the kiddos too.
On another note, at this same location and on the very same rope swing David's brother broke his finger last year. Ouch!

Last Sunday, while we were at the Weddings in Houston Bridal Soiree, we were asked by another vendor (and recent bride) to go to Mardi Gras to Trash her Dress. Although David could not make it, Laura was definitely up for it. Laura met Summer there and they traipsed through the French Quarter, among all of the revelers, with camera in hand. We were also able to get Summer's new husband, Will to join in on the fun (and wear a suit to boot!) We had such a great time, met lots of interesting people and we hope got some great photos as well!

As we mentioned in an earlier post, David and Laura were hired by the lovely Donna to go to Vegas to take Trash the Dress photos and some personal portraits. Boy did we ever have a good time. For the first two nights Donna put us up at the Wynn hotel and the third night at the Luxor. We got permission to photograph at the Boneyard or Neon Museum for part of our stay. It was such a unique location. If you have never heard of it before, it is a place where old neon signs are retired and many are restored to their original glory. Anyway, here are just a few of the many portraits we took. Donna even brought her friend Laurie along for the Boneyard shoot (with dress as well). Enjoy! Photos by D. Jones Photography.

Laura and I went down to Galveston with Amber to trash her dress. Amber was married in June and as she had no more immediate needs for her dress, she decided it would be fun to trash it and we were there to document the occasion. We started at the Railroad museum and ended at the beach.
Trash the Dress is growing into a world wide movement and we are always happy to accommodate our clients who might like this service. Not all sessions actually involve ruining the dress, in fact most can simply be dry cleaned after the session. We are currently putting together special Trash the Dress packages, so if you know of any brides who want to play in their dress for the day, give us a call! Photos by D. Jones Photography.
Special thanks go to Rebekah Johnson with Dream Bouquet for providing the wonderfully colorful fall bouquet.

Now this is something we have been wanting to sink our teeth into for quite a while. We found a willing bride in Donna. She is getting married in February on Valentines Day. You ask, how could she trash her couture gown BEFORE her wedding day? Well, she didn't, she bought a spare at a bargain from a friend who owns a bridal boutique.
We had so much fun with this! We selected, with permission, the Downtown Aquarium due to the variety we could get in one location. Their fun and willing staff were oh so helpful and enthusiastic. And special thanks to Rob with Events in Bloom for getting us this beautiful bouquet at the last minute. We could not have asked for a better model or a better day :) Photos by D. Jones Photography.
Did I mention Donna has hired Laura to go to Las Vegas with her on October 21st to do more TTD photos? Stay tuned.... :)
